I got up fairly early (for me) at about 7am. There were already sounds all around of campers getting ready for the day, and leaving before I was even up. Ha! The joys of standard time! I had a yogurt and a bagel and cream cheese from the cooler. I was on the road by 8am on my way to Mosaic Canyon. I don't think I had ever been there that early. Easy travel, but the walk up the canyon was more strenuous that I remembered, but I eventually made it to the end. Two hours up, and one hour down. I pride myself to walk at least 45 min four days a week, and the last few months I've also taken my bike for a 16mile round trip, but obviously that's not enough.
Next I went to Beatty to get lunch, gas, and ice, then came back via Titus Canyon. I only stopped at my favorite horseshoe turn to take photos one more time. Sky was completely blue unlike last time when it was grey and overcast. There was a trickle of running water below the petroglyphs, and since the road is basically the river bed, there were some surprising puddles, until it got absorbed by the dirt and vanished.
I went back to Furnace Creek to get a pool pass. It was good to soak in the hot spring fed water (80F). Except for small kids and a Mom, I had the pool to myself. I did a couple of lengths, and it's something I should look into when I'm back home. I need to do more upper body workout that I tend to ignore.
Next stop was the first night-time concert, although today was an open-mike kind of night, some were good, some not so good. And then back to the campground.
