At Cascade Locks

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

We put everything in the pack which became heavier and heavier, but we managed to fit everything in without attaching anything on the outside. The bear canister is a bear (if you pardon the expression). Although not mandatory in Washington, it is much less hassle than dealing with ropes to hang your food after a tiring day on the trail. It's also a convenient stool!

We had breakfast at the picnic table (even though we were already checked out), then went out to scout the Marine Park campground where I'll spend the night before taking off. There, we had fancy coffees and a piece of apple pie. There is another brewery at the other end of the park, so it's not a bad place to camp. It was very windy and I was glad to have an extra set of hands to keep everything from flying out when setting up the tent.

Then we said our goodbyes, and Natalie left for Portland, and I'm updating these entries. No wifi for now, but maybe later.

I had dinner at the brewery.

After that I went to the island caused by the old locks, and watched the fire planes refilling in the river.
