Your web files currently residing on bob.ucsc.edu in /extra/www/xxx have been copied to the www2.ucsc.edu server in the xxx web directory as requested. To check and test your web directory until the actual switchover date (scheduled for June 15), use: http://www2.ucsc.edu/xxx/ To access this web directory, login or ftp/fetch to your usual CATS/Athena account (with your ususal username and password), and change to the following directory: /afs/cats/www/xxx/public_html Your files have been copied there. Whatever you put in this directory will be visible on the web at the URL mentionned above. ======== The following CATS/Athena users can write in this web directory: xxx (web manager) To change who can write in the web directory, the web manager needs to telnet to their CATS/Athena account, and invoke the "listmaint" program at the % prompt. Choose item #6 the members menu, and enter the name of the list which should be xxx (same name as the web directory name). Then select item #1 to add new members. People must have CATS/Athena accounts to be able to write in the directory, so they will always be of type USER, and you just need to enter their username. Note that it can take up to 2 hours for any changes you make to the list to take effect, so be patient. To make it easy to communicate between the users authorized to write in this web directory, the users listed above are part of a mailing list called xxx@cats.ucsc.edu. ======== If you are not already listed in the academic and/or administrative web pages directories, please contact the appropriate person listed here: + To be listed in the academic/research directory (http://www.ucsc.edu/acad/), please contact the Academic Editors' Office (acadweb@cats.ucsc.edu). + To be listed in the administrative directory (http://www.ucsc.edu/admin/), please contact UCSC Planning & Budget (adminweb@cats.ucsc.edu). ======== Please check that everything is working correctly in your web directory on the www2 server. Please contact me if you see anything missing, or notice some unusual behavior. If you need cgi-bin access, please request it now as well. - Jacques (jacques@cats.ucsc.edu) PS: Please check http://www2.ucsc.edu/people/jacques/jellylorum/ for the current status of this project.
